General members meeting: June 5th!

On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the annual VVE member meeting will take place from 19:30 (doors open at 19:15). We would like to invite all members to attend, and will close the meeting with a drink and a snack.

In the unlikely event that someone is unable to attend, we request that an authorization be granted; this can be done to another owner, but also to a member of the board. The official invitation that follows later includes an authorization form for this. In order to make decisions, it is very important that enough owners will vote.

If there are members who want to submit a question/request for the agenda, the board would like to receive the necessary documents before May 29, 2024, so that it can be determined in time whether this fits within the agenda or whether an alternative action may be needed. On this page, all documents relevant to the GMM will soon be placed (Dutch only, sorry!).

Flue gas ducts

As you know, work is being done on our flue gas ducts. In the meantime, there has already been 1 test renovation with an individual channel (all apartments above the square), and at the end of April there was also a test renovation with a CLV channel (other apartments). In the future, the VVE will coordinate that the remaining 13 individual ducts will be renovated in one go by the company Rogas, and the remaining 11 CLV ducts will be renovated per shaft in the coming period.

Point of attention: the pipes that go into the shaft from every central heating boiler (during the construction of our building these were a white and a gray PVC pipe) will have to be replaced by stainless steel. The reason for this is that (after renovation of the flue gas ducts) the pipes outside the shaft must be made of the same material as in the shaft. In addition, stainless steel pipes are more resistant to higher temperatures and provide better protection in the event of a fire. It is possible that the installer will also report this when a boiler is checked.

If it is necessary to replace the central heating boiler before "your" duct has been replaced, please let the board know.

Parcels

How nice it is that nowadays we can order a lot online and have it delivered. The number of parcels being delivered is growing enormously – also at IJside. Very often it goes well, but it also happens occasionally that a package does not arrive, or is opened (or delivered opened).

There are cameras in our hall near the elevators. It has happened a number of times that, after the board checks the camera images, it turned out that opened packages were already delivered ''open'' by the delivery service. It also sometimes turns out that (although it has been reported that a package has been delivered) a package is sometimes delivered one or even more days later. To date, the board has not been able to determine from camera images whether (and who) is stealing, opening or emptying packages.

The board therefore advises:

  • If you know that you will not be able to be at home at the time of the delivery of a package, schedule another time
  • If necessary, indicate to whom the package can be delivered alternatively, someone who is at home
  • Parcels can also be delivered to a pick-up point nearby
  • If a parcel has been delivered, pick it up immediately when it is placed at the lifts to prevent it from being stolen

It goes without saying that the board sympathizes with the vicissitudes surrounding the packages. But we also see this as a personal responsibility of every resident, as there are several alternative options for delivery.

Names at the doorbell

New occupant or tenant? IJside's doorbell system can also be used to search for a resident by name, if a visitor does not know the house number (anymore).

Is your name not (or wrongly) displayed? Send an email to the board, so we can change the name. This does not require a entry in Twinq.

Break-ins

It is relatively rare (1x in the past period) that apartments in our building are broken into. The board advises to always lock the front door (in case of absence), then it is very difficult to open the door. Another option is to attach an anti-burglary strip.

Pee, poo and paper

During the recent sewerage problems, the pump of the cesspool in the alley was found not to be functioning. After opening the pit, it was clear to see that objects had ended up in the sewer that did not belong there. Even though this was not the main cause for the failure this time, it does not help to keep the system functioning properly.

We would like to urge you not to flush soft drink packaging, wipes and condoms etc down the toilet, but to throw away those products with the residual waste. To refresh your memory:

Procedure for repairs via Twinq

It often happens that after reporting a repair request using Twinq, it takes a while before a response comes. In terms of procedure, after entering the report in Twinq, there should always be a confirmation to you, stating the company that will carry out the repair.

The board advises the owners (after receiving the confirmation) to always contact the company in question to schedule an appointment. Thanks in advance for the help with this.

Groene Barentsz

Last year, a committee was set up of people from the neighborhood who would like to see a greener (Barentsz) square.
From IJside, Gea (6L) participates in this committee. From every building on the Silodam, someone thinks along, including kiosk manager and garden designer Onno Bakker. He has also been involved in the green gardens between the Stenen Hoofd and Vooges.

Last winter, a green plan was submitted to the area broker of West. She forwarded this plan to the project group of the Van Diemenstraat. We hope that this plan will be included in the revision plans of the Van Diemenstraat. Unfortunately, there has been no response from the project manager to date.

In mid-May, the committee will meet again with Onno Bakker to make a plan on how the square can be greener. If you have green ideas that you would like to share with the committee, mail them to gea@wulko.nl
